Settling Saturday

Saturday morning we took another load from the hotel to the apartment.  Our goal for the day was to find enough that we could spend the night and be able to make dinner.  David went online to find the manuals for the dryer.  We discovered that the dryer is not vented and so we have to empty the water reservoir after each cycle.  Now we have dry towels!  It is amazing how something as simple as dry towels can feel like a victory.
It was a day of more unboxing, hanging sheets over the windows for curtains in the bedrooms and finding pots and pans.  David took a morning trip to the store ½ a block away for dishwasher soap and lunch supplies.  It was quite a successful trip.  He found both milk and a cheese that Ellie proclaimed, “Daddy, this taste like real milk!”  There is no cheddar cheese like Ellie likes for burrito. David found one that had a pretty mild flavor and would melt.  Ellie was so happy to have her “normal” lunch.  After missing nap two days in a row, she was excited to crawl into her own big girl bed.
While Ellie napped and I unpacked, David made a second trip to a different grocery store.  This time his goal was to pick up items for dinner.  We wanted to make potato soup.  David spent about an hour in the store looking for 6 items similar to the ones on the list.  He did an awesome job coming up with substitutes for hash browns and cream of mushroom soup among other things.  The soup turned out to be delicious although it did not have the flavor we were use too.  Ellie even ate two servings.  Ellie and David went on a bike ride and we rounded out the evening by watching Clemson’s loss to UNC and following Alabama’s first loss of the year on the internet.
